Prince George is spending his last day at Lambrook School today, marking a major milestone that will leave his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, sad. The young royal will begin attending Eton College this September, following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William.
George's Final Day at Lambrook
Today is Prince George's final day at the private preparatory school in Berkshire, which offers a weekly Saturday school followed by an afternoon of sports for all pupils in Year 5 and above. Charlotte, 11, and eight-year-old Louis will continue attending Lambrook. George will turn 13 this month and will move to Eton for the next school year.
Kensington Palace Announcement
Kensington Palace confirmed in June that Prince George will attend Eton College. A statement said: “Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September.” The Wales family made the decision to enrol their son at the prestigious boarding school, where Prince William previously studied.
Subjects on Offer at Eton
At Eton, George will have a choice of 28 subjects, including nine Modern and Classical Languages. Traditional subjects like English literature, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics are available. Other subjects include Ancient History, Latin, Greek, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, History (medieval, early modern or modern), History of Art, Geography, Design, Art, Music, Theology, Theatre Studies, Economics, Government and Politics, Music Technology, and Computer Science.
Parental Concerns
Although Prince William is said to be “thrilled” that his son will attend his alma mater, both he and Princess Kate are likely concerned about George's new experience. Melanie Sanderson, managing editor of The Good School Guide, told People: “I'm sure, like any parents, Catherine and William will be concerned that he's going to find his place, find the right kind of friends and thrive.”
Family Time at Forest Lodge
George is expected to return home regularly to spend time with his family at their new home, Forest Lodge, which is just a few miles from Eton College.
