Netflix has unveiled a major casting update for one of its most anticipated animated features of the year, bringing heavyweight comedy talent to an already star-studded project.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Expands
The streaming giant confirmed that comedy icons Cedric the Entertainer and Tracy Morgan have joined the voice cast of the upcoming animated film, Swapped. They will appear alongside the previously announced leads, Hollywood superstar Michael B Jordan and acclaimed actress Juno Temple.
The film is set in a majestic animal realm called the Valley. The story centres on a small woodland creature, voiced by Jordan, who becomes entangled in chaotic body-swap antics with a regal bird, portrayed by Temple. An official synopsis describes the pair as "two sworn enemies" who are "forced to walk in each’s feathers and fur" during a wild joint journey.
A Creative Powerhouse Behind the Scenes
Swapped boasts an impressive creative pedigree. The project is being directed by Nathan Greno, the co-director of Disney's beloved hit Tangled. The screenplay comes from John Whittington, known for his work on The Lego Batman Movie, with additional writing by Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow, the duo behind DuckTales and WondLa.
The production team is equally formidable, featuring former Pixar chief John Lasseter alongside producers David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews.
An Emotional and Humorous Ride
In a statement, director Nathan Greno promised audiences a multifaceted experience. "Swapped is an unpredictable, emotional ride — full of humour, spectacle, and heart," he said. He revealed the team drew inspiration from live-action nature documentaries to explore a complex ecosystem, aiming to create a world that feels "vibrant and deeply human."
Greno reserved high praise for his leading actors, stating they bring "warmth and authenticity" to the film. "Every moment between them feels alive — funny one second, deeply moving the next," he added. "Their chemistry lifts the story and gives Swapped its wings."
While an exact premiere date is still under wraps, Netflix has confirmed that Swapped will debut exclusively on the platform sometime in 2026.
The announcement comes as Michael B Jordan enjoys significant awards buzz for his dual role in the horror drama Sinners. Juno Temple remains a fan favourite following her role in Ted Lasso and recent appearances in major film releases.
