Alexis Warr Splits from Husband Jake Burton After 8 Years

Strictly Come Dancing professional Alexis Warr has announced that she and her husband Jake Burton have separated after eight years of marriage. The 26-year-old American dancer shared the news in a joint statement on Instagram, apologizing for being "MIA" and explaining the decision was made with "the greatest respect for each other."

Statement of Separation

In her post, Warr wrote: "After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate." She added: "Whilst this hasn't been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we're each other's biggest cheerleaders." The couple confirmed they would handle the remainder of their "life change" away from the public eye. Burton, a dentist, posted an identical statement on his own Instagram account.

Warr's Career and Background

Warr joined the BBC dance show in 2025 alongside fellow newcomer Julian Caillon. Originally from Utah, she made history in 2022 as the first Latin and ballroom dancer to win So You Think You Can Dance in its 17th season. During that victory, she dedicated her win to her mother, who had battled brain cancer and experienced a miraculous recovery. Warr said: "Every week I'm here is another week that I get to make my mamma happy. My mum and dad sacrificed a lot for me to dance... This journey has been a love letter to my mother, and I would love to seal that with a win."

Before joining Strictly, Warr performed on America's Got Talent and was later recruited by Dancing With The Stars as a professional dancer. While she never partnered with celebrities on DWTS, she performed alongside other professionals. She also appeared in JoJo Siwa's 2024 music video for the single Karma.

Strictly Journey and Marriage

On Strictly, Warr was paired with TikTok star George Clarke, and the duo finished as runners-up in the 2025 series 23 finale. Though she kept her marriage private, she publicly celebrated Burton's achievement in November 2025 after he passed his dental school boards. At the time, she wrote: "Proud wifey posttt. My man passed his dental school boards! Couldn't be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all." Burton replied: "Couldn't do it without you. love you!"
