Strictly Come Dancing star Amber Davies has opened up about the emotional turmoil of surviving the dance-off, describing it as 'the worst feeling in the world'. The former Love Island winner and her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin found themselves in the bottom two alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Lauren Oakley during icons week.
Speaking on the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, Davies admitted she felt 'awful' for being part of Hasselbaink's elimination. 'I wasn't sad because we were in the dance-off. I was sad because I love him so much and I love Lauren Oakley,' she said. The couple received 33 out of 40 points for their Cha Cha Cha to Ariana Grande's Break Free but faced the public vote.
Despite the setback, Davies revealed an outpouring of support from fans. 'I feel like from the start, a lot of, 'Oh, she's a dancer,' has come up on social media. I was terrified to open the social media apps. But everybody has been so kind, so lovely, and I feel so loved,' she explained.
The actress also discussed the challenges of transitioning from theatre to ballroom dancing. 'I am stubborn from the waist down, really stubborn. Nikita is literally trying to undo everything that I kind of know,' she said. Kuzmin added that while Davies has a strong base, they are working hard to 'undo' certain habits.
Looking ahead to Halloween week, Davies will perform a Viennese Waltz to I See Red by Everybody Loves An Outlaw, dressed as Little Red Riding Hood. The couple are determined to avoid another dance-off and impress the judges.
