Lisa Armstrong has broken her silence following a major fire at the £5 million West London home she once shared with her ex-husband, Ant McPartlin. The blaze broke out on Monday at the property on Grove Park Gardens in Chiswick, which the couple owned during their marriage until their split in 2018. Armstrong, who has been renting out the home since the divorce, took to Instagram after the incident.
She shared a quote that read: 'Once the heart gets too heavy with pain, people don't cry. They just turn silent. Completely silent,' accompanied by three praying hand emojis. The London Fire Brigade responded with six fire engines and around 40 firefighters, who were called at 09:46am. Crews from Chiswick, Hammersmith, Richmond and other stations attended, deploying a 32-metre ladder at the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is believed to have been electrical. The house is currently being rented by a family of six. The nanny, Nor-ain Passwilan, reportedly spotted smoke coming from a first-floor bedroom, and she and the cleaner, Maria Bilianska, were the only ones present when the fire started.
Ant McPartlin moved out of the property after separating from Armstrong in 2018, and now lives in Wimbledon with his new wife, Anne-Marie Corbett. Armstrong still owns the Chiswick house and rents it out. The couple's divorce settlement saw Ant hand over half of his £62 million fortune, along with the marital home.
