David Beckham was spotted drinking a large glass of red wine at the Scotland vs Brazil World Cup match in Miami on Wednesday, accompanied by his son Cruz and Cruz's girlfriend Jackie Apostel. The sighting came hours after his estranged son Brooklyn Beckham appeared to snub the family by celebrating his father-in-law Nelson Peltz's 84th birthday instead.
Beckham's World Cup Appearance
The 51-year-old football legend was joined in a VIP box by Cruz, 21, and his Brazilian girlfriend Jackie Apostel, who cheered for Brazil. Beckham wore a beige blazer and sweater, while Cruz opted for a white T-shirt and jeans. Jackie wore a jacket from Romeo Beckham's clothing brand Intra in Brazil's colors. Fellow football icon Phil Neville and Beckham's friend Dave Gardner also joined them.
Fans on social media joked about Beckham's large wine glass, with one commenting: "David Beckham with a fishbowl of red wine." Another added: "Did everyone see David Beckham take the biggest swig of red wine from the biggest glass ever?"
Brooklyn's Birthday Celebration
Meanwhile, Brooklyn Beckham, 27, was in Miami celebrating his father-in-law Nelson Peltz's 84th birthday. He and his wife Nicola Peltz shared photos on Instagram of the couple wearing matching cowboy hats with Nicola's family. The family photos were likely a blow to Beckham's estranged family, as Brooklyn has not spoken to them for over a year and has blocked them on social media.
Brooklyn is reportedly "furious" with his parents David and Victoria after they posted Father's Day tributes to him on Instagram last weekend, despite his requests to only be contacted through his lawyer. Sources claim he "just wants to be left alone."
Ongoing Family Rift
Brooklyn issued a statement in January accusing his parents of trying to "ruin" his marriage and being focused on "Brand Beckham." He claimed relations became strained around his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz. He accused Victoria of pulling out of making Nicola's wedding dress and dancing "inappropriately" at the wedding, and criticized David for ignoring requests to meet before his 50th birthday.
Earlier this month, Brooklyn appeared to mock the family feud in a DoorDash commercial, saying: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home. It's not like I don't have tickets. Um… it's because… it's a long story." Sources said his parents were "inconsolable" and "shocked" that he treated their rift as a joke.
