Brooklyn Beckham Says Parents Wanted Him to Be a Plumber, Cuts Ties

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has publicly announced he is cutting ties with his family, claiming his parents tried to control his life and ruin his marriage. In a lengthy Instagram statement, the 26-year-old said he has been 'silent for years' but felt compelled to speak out after his parents allegedly fed lies to the press.

Brooklyn accused his parents of attempting to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name before his wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham in 2022. He also claimed his mother cancelled making Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to find an alternative. The couple's first dance was allegedly 'hijacked' by Victoria Beckham, who danced 'inappropriately' on him, leaving him feeling 'humiliated'.

The statement detailed further grievances, including that Nicola was not invited to David Beckham's 50th birthday party, and that his brothers were sent to attack him on social media before blocking him. Brooklyn said his family values 'public promotion and endorsements above all else', with 'Brand Beckham' taking priority over genuine relationships.

Brooklyn, who has previously pursued careers in photography and cooking, said he has found peace since distancing himself from his family. 'For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared,' he wrote. He and Nicola want 'peace, privacy and happiness' for their future family.
