BTS Star Jin's Emotional Admission of Worries Before Netflix Comeback Concert
In a heartfelt moment during their highly anticipated return to the stage, BTS star Jin confessed to harbouring "so many worries" ahead of the group's first concert in four years. This emotional admission was captured in the Netflix special BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang, which documents the K-pop superstars' triumphant reunion after completing mandatory military service in South Korea.
Historic Performance at Gwanghwamun Square
The seven-member group – consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook – took over Seoul's iconic Gwanghwamun Square for a spectacular performance. They showcased tracks from their fifth studio album Arirang, which had been released just the day before, alongside beloved hits like Dynamite that had the tens of thousands of screaming fans in raptures.
The atmosphere was electric as the historic Gyeongbokgung palace gate was illuminated in vibrant purple, red, and blue lights, creating a breathtaking backdrop for this monumental event in K-pop history.
Jin's Candid Confession to Army Fanbase
During the hour-long concert, Kim Seok-jin, known professionally as Jin, addressed the crowd in Korean with visible emotion. "Thank you so much for coming here," he began. "I had so many worries before about standing here today but seeing you all again, I'm so emotional and happy." He specifically thanked BTS's dedicated fanbase, known as Army, for their unwavering support during the group's hiatus.
Fellow member Park Ji-min, who performs as Jimin, echoed these sentiments, telling the audience: "We are finally here and seeing you again. The fact that I am speaking here... I am so moved. All seven of us standing on stage together makes me so happy."
Overcoming Challenges for the Comeback
The concert was not without its challenges. It was reported that group leader RM (Kim Nam-joon) had sustained an injury prior to the performance, which necessitated him limiting his movements and occasionally sitting on a chair throughout the show. Despite this, he fulfilled the promise made in the concert trailer: "We promised our fans that we would be back."
Tickets for this historic event were allocated through a free global lottery on the Weverse fan-community platform, with additional reservations available to the general public via NOL Ticket, making it accessible to fans worldwide.
Netflix Documentary and BTS's Global Legacy
This concert special precedes the release of a new Netflix documentary titled BTS: The Return, scheduled for March 21st. The documentary will chronicle the lead-up to the group's comeback, which was first announced through handwritten letters sent to Army members across the globe.
BTS – whose name stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, or Beyond the Scene – has achieved remarkable international success. They have secured:
- Four top 10 singles and two number one albums in the UK
- Five Grammy nominations as the first K-pop act to receive such recognition
- The distinction of being the best-selling music act in South Korean history with over 40 million albums sold
- The first non-English speaking group to sell out London's Wembley Stadium
Their global hits include Butter, Dynamite, and Life Goes On, along with collaborations with Western artists like Charli XCX, Coldplay, and Halsey. This emotional comeback concert marks a significant chapter in their ongoing story, demonstrating their enduring connection with fans after years of separation.
