Cheryl Hines appeared on 'The View' on Tuesday to promote her memoir 'Unscripted,' but the conversation quickly turned to her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and his role as US Secretary of Health and Human Services. The actress pushed back against the co-hosts' criticisms, including claims that Kennedy spreads misinformation.
When co-host Sunny Hostin pressed Hines about Kennedy's endorsement of Donald Trump, Hines called it a 'very difficult decision' and noted that political shifts happen. She said she shares her concerns with her husband but has never told people who to vote for.
Joy Behar raised concerns about Kennedy casting doubt on vaccine efficacy. Hines responded, 'Can we do better? Yes, to vaccines... Can we make them safer? Can we listen to parents?' Whoopi Goldberg questioned Kennedy's qualifications, noting he is not a doctor. Hines claimed that '90 percent of secretaries of HHS have not been doctors,' though she did not cite a source.
Hostin stated that Kennedy is 'the least-qualified HHS head in history' and accused him of spreading 'misinformation.' As Hines tried to respond, she was interrupted, prompting her to say, 'May I? May I finish?' Hines then alleged that Dr. Anthony Fauci spread disinformation about COVID-19 transmission, drawing a rebuttal from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin.
The interview ended with Behar asking if Kennedy has a brain worm, referencing his past admission. Hines confirmed, 'It ate just a little bit of his brain.'
