Davey Ash, a much-loved comedian who regularly performed at Liverpool's Hot Water Comedy Club, has died. He was remembered as "a proper comic" who "always brought the room with him".
The "naturally affable Scouse storyteller" was celebrated for incorporating quirky and humorous tales into his stand-up performances over a career spanning more than a decade. He was named Liverpool's best new comedian of the year in 2012.
His daughter Olivia Ashworth paid an emotional tribute, saying: "Oh my beautiful dad you are at rest now... I can happily say I got to see my dad doing what he does best and I'm proud of him always and forever."
The Hot Water Comedy Club announced his passing on social media, stating: "RIP Davey Ash. One of the real ones. A proper comic, a heart of gold, and someone we were lucky to call a mate."
Tributes have poured in from friends and admirers. The club will hold a fundraiser comedy night in his honour on March 26, with proceeds going to his family.
