Dean Gaffney Breaks Silence on Katie Price's Fifth Wedding to Lee Andrews
Former EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney has publicly addressed his close friend Katie Price's latest marital union, offering a succinct five-word perspective on the whirlwind romance that captivated public attention. The 48-year-old star confessed to being thoroughly "entertained" by the ongoing developments in Price's personal life following her quick-fire wedding to businessman Lee Andrews in Dubai earlier this year.
Gaffney's Candid Assessment of Price's High-Profile Romance
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Gaffney revealed his amusement at the media frenzy surrounding Price's fifth marriage, which occurred just days after the couple first met in person. "Whatever Katie does, even if it's just going to the shops, it ends up being written about," Gaffney observed, acknowledging Price's remarkable three-decade career in the public eye. "She's been known for at least 30 years now, and you don't sustain that level of attention without having something about you."
The actor praised Price's professional legacy, noting: "As a model, Katie was one of the best in the business. Not many people could do it like she did - she just had that natural talent. Obviously now the general public seem to be more interested in her private life." Despite the scrutiny, Gaffney maintained a supportive stance toward his longtime friend, simply stating: "As long as she's happy."
Reflecting on Family Dynamics and Personal Growth
Gaffney also touched upon Price's improved relationship with her ex-husband Peter Andre, emphasizing the importance of parental harmony. "I think it's nice that she's allegedly on good terms with Peter again, because when you've got children involved it's important that both parents are on the same page. That's a good thing," he remarked.
The conversation shifted to Gaffney's own experiences with public perception, particularly regarding his early fatherhood. At age 17, he became a father to twin daughters Charlotte and Chloe with then-partner Sarah Burge. "People sometimes forget that I was very young when all that happened," Gaffney reflected. "I was 17 when my ex-partner fell pregnant and 18 when the girls were born and they were twins. At the same time, I was on the biggest show in the country, being watched by about 25 million people, nearly half the country. It was a lot."
He clarified misconceptions about his personal life, stating: "There's also a bit of a misconception about me. People sometimes think I've been out on the party scene my whole life, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I woke up every day in the same house as my daughters until they were 18." Gaffney expressed pride in his daughters' accomplishments, including one daughter's recent marriage and another becoming a grandmother.
Career Developments and Future Prospects
Gaffney recently expanded his acting portfolio with a role in the film Reckless, alongside Vinnie Jones. He humorously recounted landing the part after creating an audition tape while on holiday in Dubai. "We were four hours ahead in Dubai when my agent called me, and I'd had a few Malibu and Cokes," he laughed. "So I had to run back to the apartment and do a self-tape. But I did it, sent it off, and two days later I got the role, which was great."
Describing the experience as "pretty special," Gaffney appreciated the opportunity to see himself on the big screen for the first time. The film was shot in just three weeks, with Jones completing his scenes in four days. "Vinnie's a lovely guy," Gaffney added, praising director Elliott Montello as "a really lovely guy."
As for Price's future, Gaffney remains intrigued. "As for Katie's love life, even as a friend it keeps me entertained," he concluded. "Let's see what the next installment brings."
