Gemma Collins Reveals Pneumonia Battle After Social Media Hiatus

Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins has broken her social media silence to reveal she has been battling pneumonia for the past three weeks. The 44-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday, 4 June, to explain her absence from the platform.

In a post, Collins wrote: 'Hey guys sorry been quiet I have Pneumonia. I'm not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily.' She added that she is still honouring work commitments but will be 'back entertaining you all soon'. The reality star also shared a photo showing her receiving treatment via a drip.

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs typically caused by an infection. Most people recover within two to four weeks, but infants, the elderly, and those with heart or lung conditions are at higher risk of severe illness. Fans and famous friends, including Jedward, have sent well-wishes, with the duo writing: 'You giving us all so much energy and good vibes! Get your rest!'

In April, Collins discussed her recent weight loss, attributing it to the diabetes medication Mounjaro, which some use as a weight loss aid. She told the Mirror: 'I've lost so much weight, you wouldn't believe it. There's no food noise anymore.' She described the term 'food noise' as relentless thoughts about eating that dominated her day.

Collins reflected on the transformative impact, saying all her clothes are now too big. She added: 'As the weather gets warmer, I am just gonna start being able to wear tighter stuff... but I'm not quite there yet.'
