Howard Stern Says He 'Loves' Oprah, Downplays Feud Rumours

Howard Stern has addressed long-standing rumours of a feud with Oprah Winfrey, insisting he holds no animosity towards the media mogul. During an appearance on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show, the 71-year-old radio host said he 'loves' Winfrey and follows her on social media, despite never having spoken to her directly.

Stern acknowledged that his past criticism of Winfrey, particularly regarding her displays of wealth, may have fuelled speculation of a rift. In 2022, he remarked that she was 'not embarrassed by her wealth at all' and criticised her Instagram posts showcasing her estates. However, he told Cohen that he finds it 'funny' and does not hate her, adding: 'I think she's brilliant.'

The rumoured feud dates back to 2004, when Stern encouraged listeners to complain to the Federal Communications Commission about Winfrey's show, leading to an investigation that ultimately resulted in no fines. Stern said at the time: 'If they fine me, they gotta fine Oprah.'

Despite the history, Stern revealed that Winfrey's friend Gayle King once suggested a meeting between the two, but Stern advised caution. 'You better check with Oprah. Don't surprise her with me,' he said. He also advised Winfrey to 'stay away' from him, stating: 'Oprah doesn't need it.'
