Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has admitted he is keeping a baby name secret after sharing the decision behind the traditional moniker for his newborn daughter. The actor, known for playing David Platt on the ITV soap, recently welcomed his fourth child, a baby girl, with his wife Hanni Treweek. The couple announced the birth of Constance Ita Shepherd on June 26, 2026, after a home birth two weeks past the due date.
Family Background and Pregnancy Announcement
Jack already has three children from previous relationships: Nyla Rae and Ruben with ex-girlfriend Lauren Shippey, and a son named Greyson with former partner Sammy Milewski. He and Hanni announced their pregnancy on Valentine's Day 2026, seven months after marrying at Manchester Cathedral in July 2025. The couple did not discover the baby's gender before birth.
Inspiration Behind the Name Constance
During an appearance on the podcast On the Sofa with former co-star Colson Smith, Jack explained the naming process. "What you do is when you're picking names, you Google," he said. "You'll go French names, Italian names, something that's a bit, you know, European and posh. That's what we were thinking." The couple sought an "unusual" name, and "Constance came up and it was probably the only one that we both agreed on."
Secret Boy Name Revealed
When asked if they had a boy name prepared, Jack admitted he has one but is keeping it secret. "Yes. I don't want to reveal my name and someone steals it. Even though I am fully aware there is still one other in the world," he said. The podcast episode aired shortly after the birth announcement, which featured a photo of the baby's hand held by her parents.
