Jamie Laing Vows to 'Learn from Mistakes' After Backlash Over Wife's Post

Jamie Laing has promised to 'learn from mistakes' after facing criticism for an 'insensitive' post about his wife, Sophie Habboo, over Christmas. The former Made In Chelsea star shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on what he would tell his younger self, urging patience and vulnerability.

In the post, Laing wrote: 'You have time. Be patient. Life is a race but it’s a long one. Don’t get fooled into thinking it’s not. Be vulnerable. It’s brave. It’s cool. You’re good enough. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.' He added: 'You will make mistakes and that’s exactly what being young is for. Make sure you learn from them.'

The apology follows backlash from mum influencers who slammed Laing for setting 'unrealistic expectations' on new mothers. He had posted a video praising his wife for 'creating a magical Christmas' just three weeks after giving birth to their son Ziggy, calling her a 'superwoman'.

Critics commented that the post normalised pressure on postpartum women, with one saying: 'This is lovely but also let’s not normalise post partum women being “superwoman” it’s not normal.' Another added: 'This is an insensitive post and sets an unrealistic expectation/pressure on other new mothers.'

Laing concluded his reflective caption with: 'Happiness, love & kindness aren’t just important… They’re the only things that truly matter. And don’t be scared of building a family. It will be hard but beyond rewarding in every way.'
