Jo Wood Celebrates Audiobook Launch of Break-Up Novel 'The Resurrection of Flo'
Jo Wood, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, hosted a celebratory event at Fitzrovia Studios on Wednesday night to mark the launch of her debut novel, The Resurrection of Flo, in audiobook format. The 71-year-old author was joined by family and friends, including her son Jamie Wood and grandson Charlie Wood, as they enjoyed beverages such as Apres Provence Rose Wine, Jukes’ non-alcoholic wine, and OMOSS sea moss drinks.
From Personal Heartbreak to Literary Creation
First released in 2025, the book follows Flo, a once-famous actress who, after a painful divorce, embarks on a journey of self-discovery in her fifties. Jo Wood revealed that she initially struggled to write the X-rated break-up tome until a 'naughty' friend provided her with even more provocative ideas. She recounted, 'I asked my friend Vin to write it for me, about two years before I finished it. Well, he said "let me write it for you, Jo".'
After giving Vin her notes, he returned with eight chapters that Jo found too crude to publish. 'It was so crude, I couldn't believe it. I said "Vin, I can't put my name to this. It's really naughty. Way worse than it ended up being."' This experience, however, gave her the courage to write the book herself, drawing from her own real-life experiences.
A Mirror of Real-Life Resilience
The novel mirrors Jo Wood's own recovery after her divorce from Ronnie Wood, which was primarily due to his adultery with 18-year-old waitress Ekaterina Ivanova in 2008. Married from 1985 to 2011, Jo channels themes of resilience, female empowerment, and finding joy after the end of a 30-year marriage into the story. She described the book as 'sexy and shocking,' reflecting her personal journey of healing and empowerment.
