Joe McElderry Makes Chart Comeback with New Single 'Love Me Out Loud'
Joe McElderry, the winner of The X Factor in 2009, has released a new song titled 'Love Me Out Loud', nearly 17 years after his victory on the ITV singing competition. The 35-year-old singer, who was mentored by Cheryl during the show, beat Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs to win the series. After stepping back from the spotlight, McElderry has returned with a pop-dance track that fans are already calling the 'song of the summer'.
Inspired by Personal Dating Woes
McElderry explained that the song's poignant lyrics reflect his own experiences with dating. 'I'm sure everybody's been through this, where you fall for somebody and know from the get-go this person is so wrong for me,' he said. 'In the back of your mind, you know it's going to end in disaster.' Describing himself as 'horrendously single', he added: 'It's like that inner battle with yourself, like, 'They're so wrong for us, but I'm in it now and I've just got to kind of go with it now because I've fallen for them'.'
Fan Reaction Overwhelmingly Positive
'Love Me Out Loud' was released last week, and fans have been quick to praise the track on social media. One follower commented on Instagram: 'What a Super Summer Single release! This will be on repeat.' Another wrote: 'I love it Jo!!! Sound of the summer. Going to boogie my way into the gym this morning xx.' A third user said: 'You did not need to go so hard!! Song of the summer! Love love laaaav ittt [sic].' One fan added: 'This song has been in my head for two days.'
Future Plans and Career Highlights
McElderry already has plans for a follow-up pop-dance single, reportedly due for release in September. After winning The X Factor at age 18, he released five albums, though he missed out on the Christmas number one spot in 2009 when a campaign led to Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name' topping the charts. He later pursued a stage career, appearing in productions such as 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' and 'Cinderella'.
