Kate Ferdinand and Rio Enjoy Family Time in Dubai After Dog's Death
Kate and Rio Ferdinand's Dubai Getaway After Dog's Death

Kate Ferdinand enjoyed some well-needed downtime with husband Rio and their family in Dubai after the heartbreaking death of her dog Ronnie. The TV personality, 34, and Rio share two-year-old daughter Shae, and five-year-old Cree, and she is step-mum to Rio's children Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, 15, whose mother Rebecca Ellison tragically passed away from breast cancer aged 34 in 2015.

Rio's World Cup Preparation

As Rio prepares to fly to the United States for the World Cup, the Manchester United star shared a gallery of snaps with his family, making the most of his time with them before his lengthy stint away. In the post, Rio shared snaps of himself relaxing with his two oldest sons, followed by one with his daughter Tia after she had been gifted a huge bouquet and balloons to celebrate her 15th birthday. Rio also shared a glamorous snap of Kate, who enjoyed a refreshing drink while basking in the sun. He also gave a glimpse of his glitzy lifestyle in the world of football as he enjoyed a chat with Cristiano Ronaldo after his triumph in the Saudi Pro League.

Heartbreak Over Ronnie's Death

It comes after Kate revealed she is 'heartbroken' following the death of her pet dog Ronnie. Over the weekend, she announced the passing of her beloved pooch, who she has had since her TOWIE days. As she continued to mourn her loss, Kate took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a black and white snap of Ronnie's empty dog bed, which she accompanied with a broken heart emoji. While Kate has been down in the dumps amid Ronnie's death, it seems her husband Rio Ferdinand, 47, was less sympathetic, as she later noted that he has 'had enough' of her staring at the dog bed and instead whisked her and their son Cree off for an impromptu work trip.

On Saturday, Kate informed her followers of her devastated loss, sharing snaps of Ronnie as she remarked: 'Heartbroken. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my baby Rons. So so sad.' Ronnie had been Kate's companion since he was a puppy, having been adopted by her and then-boyfriend Dan Edgar back in 2015. The pooch even appeared with the former couple on some episodes of TOWIE, with one clip seeing Dan, 36, buying Ronnie a teddy as he quipped: 'if it all goes t***s up he's going to remember me'. Following her glitzy wedding to Rio in 2019, Kate later renamed her pup, opting to give him her new marital surname. Sharing a cute photo of the dog on his fourth birthday, Kate penned: 'RONNIE IS 4 TODAY. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love this little pooch ... he's also had a name change ... his first birthday as Ronnie Ferdinand.'

Fitness Venture in Dubai

Kate's loss follows a cheerier time last month which saw her and Rio show off their abs during their fitness initiative in Dubai after returning to the region. Kate took to social media to share footage from the event, which is part of their new fitness venture One Body Co, an online wellness platform that promotes holistic healing methods. Before the day kicked off, she showed off her washboard abs in a red sheer two-piece as she flaunted her midriff. Kate and Rio's community workout, which was held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in the UAE, was free to join. Former TOWIE star Kate wore a black Squatwolf two-piece gym set, paired with Nike shoes. Rio wore black shorts and a workout T-shirt from the same brand that carried their new business's logo. The pair wore headsets to speak to the gathered crowd and participated in the physically demanding challenges on stage, showing off their durability and fitness levels.

Their successful event comes after they returned to Dubai after fleeing the previous month in what Kate branded as a 'nervous system reset'. Rio and Kate made the decision to leave after 'scary' Iranian drone attacks began in the UAE and they had been forced to shelter in their basement. They left the city for their holiday home in Portugal, before returning to London for work and family commitments and then jetting to the Maldives for a holiday. Rio will soon jet off to the US to team up with James Corden to host a World Cup show on US TV. Fox Sports announced their After Hours show will be broadcast from midnight starting June 11. The pair of Londoners, one a West Ham fan, the other a former Hammers player, will be joined in the studio by Ian Karmel.
