Lily Allen Reveals Near Plastic Surgery and Body Image Struggles

Lily Allen has opened up about her near-encounter with extensive plastic surgery, revealing she consulted a Harley Street surgeon about liposuction after the birth of her first child. The 28-year-old singer told Observer Magazine that she was advised to reshape her entire body, including her thighs, belly, ankles, knees and back. She booked the surgery but cancelled it after discovering she was pregnant again four days before the procedure.

Allen's revelations come amid controversy over her new single 'Hard Out Here', which satirises sexism in the music industry. The video features Allen on an operating table undergoing liposuction while a male executive criticises her post-baby body. The song takes aim at Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' and includes lyrics such as 'It's hard out here for a bitch'.

The video has faced criticism for its use of non-white dancers, with some commentators accusing it of racism. Allen defended the video on Twitter, stating it had 'nothing to do with race' and was intended as 'a lighthearted satirical video that deals with objectification of women within modern pop culture'. She admitted her own 'insecurities' prevented her from dancing in a bikini alongside the dancers.

Allen also spoke about her long-standing feud with the Daily Mail, which published a graph charting her weight fluctuations in 2010. She revealed that a Mail reporter contacted her minutes after she gave birth to her first child, while the placenta was still inside her. The singer has previously criticised the newspaper for using her miscarriage as a hook for a gossip story.
