Married At First Sight UK star Dean Vary has revealed a dramatic three-stone weight loss following his marriage troubles on the show. The 31-year-old reality star, who appeared on the programme last year, shared a before-and-after video on Instagram showing his transformation from 135kg to 115kg.
Dean, a team building host from London, was paired with recruitment consultant Sarah Gillanders, 31, from Aberdeen. Sarah admitted early on that there was no sexual chemistry between them and made insensitive comments about his weight, sparking backlash from fans and experts.
During their honeymoon in the Maldives, Sarah told producers that Dean could 'get some tattoos and lose some weight' to spark a sexual connection. Relationship expert Paul C Brunson slammed her comments as 'rude and disrespectful', and she later publicly apologised at the Commitment Ceremony.
The couple exited the experiment early, but Dean has since focused on his fitness journey. In his Instagram caption, he wrote: 'The changes are starting to show. Still early in the journey and still work to do, but I'm heading towards that finish line one song at a time.'
Dean also addressed the backlash on TikTok, thanking fans for their support and saying he would not change who he is. 'I'd much rather be a care bear than a bad boy any day of the week,' he said.
