Mick Jagger's Fiancée Reveals Engagement and Fears Over Marriage

Mick Jagger's partner, Melanie Hamrick, has disclosed that the couple became secretly engaged several years ago, but she harbours fears about actually tying the knot. The 37-year-old former ballerina, who has been in a relationship with the 81-year-old Rolling Stones frontman since 2014, shared the news in an interview with Paris Match on Wednesday.

Hamrick stated: 'We've been engaged two or three years.' However, she expressed hesitation about marriage, saying: 'Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.' The couple share a seven-year-old son, Deveraux.

The American choreographer also revealed the secret to their decade-long relationship, emphasising mutual support. 'We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That's all that matters to me and all I strive for,' she said.

In 2023, Hamrick had described a ring from Jagger as a 'promise ring' amid engagement rumours. She told People magazine at the time: 'I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring.'

Jagger and Hamrick met in Japan in February 2014 when he was on tour with the Stones and she was with the American Ballet Theatre. Their relationship turned romantic four months later after he invited her to join him in Zurich. Hamrick has previously addressed criticism of their 44-year age gap, telling The Times: 'I don’t think about it. Everyone’s going to have their opinion.'
