Molly-Mae Hague has responded after facing backlash over comments made during a December interview on The Diary of a CEO. In a clip that went viral this week, the 22-year-old influencer said she had 'worked my a**e off' for her wealth and claimed 'everyone has the same 24 hours in a day' to achieve success.
A spokesman for Hague told MailOnline that she acknowledges people 'are raised in different ways' and 'from different backgrounds', and that she never intended to offend. The statement clarified that Hague was referring to a quote about time efficiency and her own personal experience, not commenting on others' lives.
The backlash intensified after resurfaced footage showed Hague reacting with shock when asked to work a 12-hour shift at the PrettyLittleThing warehouse. Hague, who became creative director of the clothing brand last year, gasped: 'I'll be on the floor like this by one am, Jesus.'
Hague rose to fame on Love Island in 2019 and now boasts six million Instagram followers. Her comments drew comparisons to Margaret Thatcher on social media, with users accusing her of being out of touch with wealth inequality.
