Noel Gallagher has ruled out any possibility of reconciliation with his brother Liam following a series of 'threatening' text messages allegedly sent to his family. The feud between the former Oasis bandmates escalated earlier this summer when Liam, 46, was accused of sending concerning messages to Noel's daughter Anais.
One of the messages appeared to contain a threat towards Noel's wife Sara MacDonald, prompting the High Flying Birds frontman to leak the exchange on Twitter. Reflecting on the incident, Noel told The Guardian: 'That's not the first time he's sent texts to my daughter, or left threatening phone calls on my wife's answering machine.'
The 52-year-old musician lamented that Liam faced no repercussions due to his celebrity status. 'So when he's threatening my wife via my teenage daughter, I'm thinking, you know, if you weren't a rock star, if you were just an uncle who worked in a garage, you'd be getting a visit from the police. But because you're a rockstar, wahey, you get away with that s**t,' he said.
When asked if the rift had gone beyond repair, Noel nodded and replied: 'Because I've got one fatal flaw in my otherwise perfect makeup as a human being, which is I don't forgive people.' Referring to his children, he added: 'Once you start texting my children – and his two sons have been going for her, too – and legitimise my wife being bullied on the internet, where she has to shut down Instagram accounts because of the vile s**t being written about her and my daughter, then it ain't happening.'
In the text message Noel shared on Twitter in July, Liam reportedly wrote: 'Tell your step mam to be very careful [sic].' Liam later apologised, tweeting: 'My sincere apologies to my beautiful mum Peggy and my lovely niece Anais for getting caught up in all of this childish behaviour I love you both dearly LG x.'
