Prince Harry Faces Fresh Blow After Court Defeat Over New Book

Prince Harry has faced a fresh blow just hours after his court defeat during his appearance in London today. The 41-year-old arrived in the UK on Monday afternoon for a week-long visit consisting of a series of engagements for the Invictus Games. Just hours after his defeat, which saw him losing his unlawful information-gathering lawsuit against the Daily Mail’s publisher, Associated Newspapers Ltd, author Tom Sykes revealed that his new book - which features Harry, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Edward VIII on the UK cover - will be released early next year.

Book Details and Publishing Houses

The book is titled Dukes of Hazard, with Tom revealing that he has two major publishing houses behind the book, Penguin Michael Joseph in the UK and Commonwealth and St. Martin’s Press in the US. The book will feature Harry and Andrew, who are collectively known behind palace walls as “the Dukes of Hazard”, as well as the Duke of Windsor (formerly Edward VIII), who abandoned the throne to marry Wallis Simpson in 1936. It will be a study of the remarkable parallels between these three men and their wives.

Criticism of King Charles

The book will also, according to the author, look at "how King Charles’s appalling handling of the Harry and Andrew crises has triggered a catastrophic meltdown in the monarchy’s moral standing, its global reputation, and its domestic popularity".

Harry's Solo UK Visit

The King's youngest son, who now resides in the US, has travelled to the UK on his own. His wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, were previously joining him. After his request for taxpayer-funded security was denied, it was decided that Meghan and their children would not travel to the UK. It was previously reported that King Charles had offered Harry a royal residence to stay at during his visit, with the offer later accepted. However, due to the Duke of Sussex's late response, Buckingham Palace later withdrew the offer.

Court Defeat and Reaction

Harry's court defeat today saw 14 claims for different articles dismissed. In a joint statement with Baroness Doreen Lawrence following the court's decision, Harry said: "It is a complete and obvious whitewash, but sadly not altogether unexpected. We came to court seeking justice and accountability. But we have received neither." They also added that "the lengths to which the court has gone to exonerate the Mail is as shocking as it is totally unwarranted."
