Rob Lowe's Son John Owen Trolls Him on Red Carpet at Grace Point Premiere

Rob Lowe was subjected to a playful prank by his son John Owen Lowe at the premiere of John's new film Grace Point in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 60-year-old actor attended the event to support his 29-year-old son, who stars opposite Rob's former St. Elmo's Fire co-star Andrew McCarthy, 62.

John, making his debut in a lead role, used a portable whiteboard to write out his father's name as if Rob were not already a major star. The film marks only the second credited feature for John, who previously appeared alongside his father in the Netflix series Unstable.

The premiere was a family affair, with Rob joined by his other son, Matthew Edward Lowe, 31. Rob, whose brother Chad lost his home in the recent Los Angeles fires, wore an all-black ensemble consisting of a thin sweater, zip-up jacket, and tonal pinstripe trousers. John opted for a leather jacket, black shirt, high-waisted pants, and a gold chain, resembling his father's Brat Pack style.

According to the film's synopsis, John plays a young man struggling with drug abuse who travels to a remote rehab facility with his father Winston (McCarthy). After an attack at a gas station leaves Winston wounded, John's character must flee and attempt to rescue him.

The prank may have been retaliation for Rob's comments last year about working with John on Unstable, which he described as a 'nightmare.' Rob joked that he had sent his son to Stanford hoping he would 'cure cancer' rather than become an actor.
