Ruth Langsford has spoken publicly for the first time about her split from Eamonn Holmes, describing the end of their 14-year marriage as a 'huge shock' that left her 'devastated'. The Loose Women star revealed she discovered messages from another woman, leading to their separation in May 2024.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Langsford admitted she felt 'broken' and questioned whether she had missed warning signs. 'I had a very happy marriage. Of course you question yourself, “did I miss something, was I not aware, was I too busy?” But there’s no point playing the blame game,' she said.
The former This Morning presenter confessed she feared being alone for the rest of her life, but gave herself 'a good talking to' after imagining herself as 'a sad, lonely woman in a Jane Austen novel'. She has since sought counselling, which she described as 'very powerful and very useful'.
Holmes, 65, quickly moved on with girlfriend Katie Alexander, a marriage counsellor 23 years his junior. The couple have reportedly bought a luxury weekend retreat near Belfast, Northern Ireland. Langsford, 64, said she is open to finding love again, despite being 'quite good' on her own.
'I definitely see light in the future where I didn’t before,' she added. 'The end of a very long relationship takes a lot of unravelling. Counselling helps you move on from it, to not be held back.'
