Sarah Aspin, the woman once involved in a love triangle with Amy Winehouse and her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, has been found dead at her home in Swillington, Leeds. Police are treating her death as unexplained.
Officers were called to an address in Primrose Hill Drive at 6.38am on Saturday 7 February following a concern for safety. Paramedics attended but Ms Aspin, 47, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing and her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Ms Aspin became publicly known after forming a relationship with Fielder-Civil following the collapse of his marriage to Winehouse. The pair reportedly met while in rehabilitation in around 2009 and later had two children together. They are understood to have separated in 2018.
Tributes have been paid by family members. Ms Aspin's daughter, Melody-Rose Hampshire, wrote online: 'No words at all. Love you so much mum. May you rest in eternal peace my beautiful mum.' Her cousin Leanne Eastwood also shared a message, writing: 'Sweet dreams to my beautiful cousin Sarah Aspin. Hope you finally found peace.'
Neighbours described seeing emergency services at the flat from early Saturday morning. One resident said a body bag was later removed from the property. Another neighbour said the incident had 'rocked' the normally quiet community. Flowers have since been left outside the property.
Ms Aspin previously spoke publicly following Winehouse's death in July 2011, describing the emotional impact it had on Fielder-Civil while he was serving a prison sentence in Leeds. At the time, she said he was 'devastated' by the singer's death.
