Sharon Stone Reveals Marriage Ended Over Mastectomy Decision
Sharon Stone: Marriage Ended Over Mastectomy Decision

Sharon Stone has opened up about a painful chapter in her life, revealing that her marriage ended after her ex-husband walked out when she decided to undergo a double mastectomy during a major health scare in 2001. The actress disclosed that doctors discovered multiple 'gigantic' tumors in her breasts, with one larger than her entire left breast, leading specialists to recommend a bilateral mastectomy due to the severity and suspected cancer.

Stone's Health Scare and Decision

Stone, then married to journalist Phil Bronstein, was determined to take decisive action. 'I was not f***ing around with my health,' she stated. Despite the grim prognosis, she opted for the double mastectomy. However, when she informed Bronstein of her decision, his reaction was far from supportive. 'He called it ridiculous and left the room,' Stone recalled. 'That was the moment I knew our marriage was over.'

Diagnosis and Aftermath

Ultimately, Stone did not undergo the double mastectomy, as the tumors were later found to be benign. In a previous disclosure, she also revealed that during the surgery to remove the tumors, her doctor increased her breast size without her consent. The actress has been candid about her health struggles and the personal toll they took, including the dissolution of her marriage to Bronstein, whom she married in 1998 and separated from in 2004.
