The redesign has provoked a strong negative reaction from users, many of whom are calling for an immediate return to the previous logo.
User Criticism
Social media platforms are flooded with complaints, with users describing the new logo as “hideous” and “pixelated.” Some have mistaken it for an app update or download icon on their devices, leading to confusion and frustration. The backlash has been widespread, with hashtags like #ChangeItBack trending on X.
Mixed Reactions
While the majority of feedback is negative, a minority of users have expressed indifference or even praise for the design. Some appreciate its departure from minimalist trends, calling it a “bold and fun” move. However, these voices are largely drowned out by the chorus of disapproval.
Spotify's Response
Lauren Solomon, Spotify's Senior Director of Global Brand, explained that the logo adaptation is a temporary “expression of culture” for key moments. She emphasized that the vibrant green was intentionally chosen to differentiate the brand. The company has not announced when the original logo will return.
