Strictly Come Dancing star Alexis Warr has announced her separation from husband Jake Burton after nearly eight years of marriage. The 26-year-old American dancer, who married her high school sweetheart in November 2018, shared the news in a statement on Instagram.
“Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA…sharing a personal update,” she wrote. “After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate. Whilst this hasn’t been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”
She added, “We won’t be commenting on this further and kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this life change together. Thank you, as always, for your support.”
Shared Statement and Past Tributes
Burton, a dentist, posted the same statement on his Instagram profile. The former couple, who married on November 15, 2018, had frequently shared affectionate posts about their relationship. In November 2024, Warr posted a seventh anniversary tribute, calling Burton “the absolute love of my life” and saying, “7 years of being your wife has been an absolute privilege.” A month earlier, she celebrated his passing dental school exams, writing, “Couldn’t be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all.”
Rise to Fame and Strictly Success
Warr rose to fame after winning the US version of So You Think You Can Dance in 2022. She joined Dancing With the Stars as a troupe dancer in 2024 before becoming a professional on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025. In her first season, she was paired with podcast host and TikTok star George Clarke, reaching the final and finishing as joint runners-up.
