Former TOWIE Star Jordan Wright Found Dead in Thailand Drainage Canal
Jordan Wright, a 33-year-old former reality TV personality known for his appearances on The Only Way Is Essex and Ex on the Beach, has been found dead in a drainage canal near Bang Tao Beach in Phuket, Thailand. His body was discovered face down in stagnant water by a worker on Saturday afternoon, with police estimating it had been there for up to two days before the grim find.
Erratic CCTV Footage and Mysterious Final Hours
CCTV footage captured Jordan behaving erratically outside his hotel, the Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao, where he was staying alone. The footage shows him pacing back and forth before disappearing from view, with his movements later traced toward the isolated area where his body was found. Police confirmed there were no signs of disturbance in his hotel room, and he had failed to check out as planned, raising concerns among staff.
Near the canal, authorities uncovered some of Jordan's belongings, including a hotel key card and his phone left on the bank, just metres from where he died. Police stated there were no visible signs of assault on his body, and an autopsy with toxicology tests is now underway to determine the cause of death and whether other factors played a role.
A Fresh Start in Thailand Turns Tragic
Jordan had moved to Thailand just weeks ago in search of a new life, according to friends and family. His social media painted a vibrant picture of this new chapter, with videos showing him riding high-powered motorbikes, training in martial arts, and enjoying beach life. This starkly contrasts with the lonely and tragic circumstances of his death.
He first rose to fame on TOWIE in 2018, appearing in 17 episodes, but his time in the spotlight was relatively short-lived. He was reportedly dropped from the show amid claims linked to his absence from duties as a firefighter with the London Fire Brigade, a role he later returned to after stepping away from TV. In recent years, he had moved into financial investment, listing himself as a director of a London-based firm.
Tributes Pour In from Reality TV and DJ Worlds
As news of his death broke, tributes flooded in from across the reality TV and DJ communities. Close friend and DJ Stuart Hart described Jordan as one of the good ones, always happy, fun to be around and supportive. Others echoed this sentiment, calling him a lovely person gone far too soon and expressing shock at the sudden loss.
Despite the outpouring of grief, many questions remain unanswered. Jordan was known as a controversial character during his TOWIE days, notably getting into a heated confrontation with Myles Barnett over his then-girlfriend Courtney Green, which led to complaints from fans. Police are now racing to uncover more circumstances surrounding his sudden death, as the community mourns a life cut short in a foreign land.
