TOWIE Star Jordan Wright's Heartbreaking Final Message Before Canal Death
Jordan Wright, a well-known personality from the reality television series The Only Way Is Essex, shared a deeply moving message with a friend just prior to his untimely demise. His body was discovered on Saturday in a canal in Thailand, sending shockwaves through the entertainment community and beyond.
Discovery and Initial Investigation
Local authorities reported that Jordan Wright was found by a worker at approximately 12:30 PM on Saturday, submerged in a canal. Police estimates suggest he may have been in the water for up to two days before the grim discovery. The former ITV star had relocated to Thailand in December of the previous year, expressing optimism about what he termed a "very exciting year ahead."
Police Chief Sutthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale district station provided details from the investigation. Officers interviewed staff at the hotel where Wright had been residing. "The guest was identified as Mr Jordan Wright, a British national, whom the hotel had been unable to contact," Chuthong stated. A search of his room revealed no evidence of forced entry or other suspicious activities.
Hotel Records and CCTV Footage
Hotel documentation indicated that Wright checked in alone and was scheduled to check out on March 13. However, staff noted he never completed the checkout process. CCTV footage captured him appearing restless, moving back and forth in front of the hotel before departing the area. His movements ultimately led to the location where his body was later found.
Wright was discovered lying face down in the canal, wearing a grey shirt and black trousers, with no shoes. A keycard for the Coco Phuket Bangtao Hotel was found in his pocket, and his mobile phone was located nearby on the canal bank. Investigators have confirmed there were no signs of physical assault or a struggle at the scene.
Awaiting Autopsy Results
The case remains under active investigation as authorities await autopsy results from Vachira Phuket Hospital. These results are crucial to determine whether drugs were present in his system and to establish the exact cause of death. Police Chief Chuthong emphasized, "We cannot confirm the exact cause of death until the autopsy results are released. If relatives or friends have concerns about the cause of death, they can contact the police station." CCTV footage related to the incident is part of the case file and is not being released at this stage.
Final Social Media Posts and Tributes
In a social media post dated March 6, Jordan Wright reflected on feeling at "home" in Phuket, sharing images of his travels that included beach cocktails, swimming in an infinity pool, and scuba diving adventures. A friend commented "wholesome" on the post, to which Wright replied, "Life's good T." Following his death, the same friend posted a heartfelt tribute, saying, "Rest in Paradise. Heartbroken to lose such a special soul and a beautiful friend. See you on the other side."
Official Response and Support
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed, "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with authorities." Jordan Wright, who also appeared on shows like Ex on the Beach, leaves behind a legacy in reality television, with fans and colleagues mourning his sudden loss.
