Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, 36, has apologised for sharing a 'graphic' photo of her hospital bed as she detailed her recovery after being rushed to A&E. The TV personality was discharged and is now recovering at home, but warned fans who dislike blood 'not to bother' with her latest Instagram post.
Last week, Pattison was taken to Queen's Hospital after suffering 'an untold amount of pain', a severe headache, fever, and body aches. Doctors suspected glandular fever, a throat abscess, and a major infection. She spent around 36 hours in hospital, receiving six bags of fluid, three doses of antibiotics, and significant pain relief.
In her Instagram update, Pattison shared a carousel of images including a selfie in the hospital bathroom, a bloody bandage on her arm, and a photo of her cuddling her dog at home. She captioned the post: 'Blurry but happy hometime, recovery and some things I'm grateful for... Some of these pics are a tadddd graphic so I apologise in advance.' She also thanked NHS staff, noting they were 'understaffed, undervalued and underpaid' but still provided excellent care during a junior doctors' strike.
Pattison admitted she had ignored warning signs from her body, including feeling drained, overwhelmed, and struggling to sleep. She said she had 'burnt the candle at both ends' with a punishing work schedule and no recovery time after a previous bout of Covid-19. 'This has been the wake up call I needed but I'm angry with myself I let it go this far,' she wrote.
The star concluded that she would remain in hospital for a while and urged fans to prioritise their health. She expressed gratitude for the kind messages and support from followers and medical staff.
