Vinnie Jones has spoken candidly about the loss of his mother and wife, admitting his 'fear of crumbling' as he continues to grieve. The former footballer and actor, known for his role in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, opened up during an emotional episode of his show Vinnie Jones in the Country.
In the programme, Jones hosted a charity event at his West Sussex farm for children affected by cancer. Following the event, he had a heartfelt conversation with Jim, a father whose son Alfie died in an accident at age 24. Jones, whose wife Tanya died of cancer in 2019, said: 'It's hard to come to terms with, a loss like that.' He added: 'I know, because you will feel guilty. It's a process, mate, and it takes time.'
Reflecting on his own grief, Jones admitted he 'used to feel guilty' about enjoying himself but now understands it is what Tanya would have wanted. He also spoke about the death of his mother, saying: 'Losing my mum, it's something that's very personal, it's a massive blow that I'm still holding in, I think.'
Jones revealed his fear of breaking down: 'It worries me a little bit that there's been no breakdown. I don't think you can control grief and with my mum I'm trying to keep it away. It is the fear of crumbling that keeps me going, I think.'
The star, who has been open about death and loss, encouraged others to talk about their emotions. He said: 'I got it out there, I helped other blokes, I said 'Yeah, it's alright to f****** talk and it's alright to f****** cry and show our emotions, why not?''
