The Wanted's Max George Hospitalised During Manchester Tour Stop

The Wanted star Max George has been hospitalised in Manchester, sharing a health update with fans on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The 37-year-old singer posted a picture of a cannula in his arm with the caption 'What now ffs,' adding 'This sh*t ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night' and referencing his pet dog Albert.

George later shared a selfie captioned 'Running HOT' and a video from a hospital bed after several hours of waiting. In the video, he said: 'I finally got a bed now, which is nice. I’ve been here pretty much all night. I’m absolutely knackered. No idea what’s going on, what’s happened or why it happened. Hopefully I’ll know a little bit more.'

The Swinton-born singer previously underwent surgery in December 2024 to have a pacemaker fitted, followed by a second operation weeks later due to a 'flickering sensation' in his chest. He was diagnosed with a '2:1 block in his heart', a condition causing a slow or abnormal rhythm.

Last month, George revealed he was rushed to hospital for MRI scans days before a tour, experiencing an arrhythmia where the top half of his heart beat at 50 bpm and the bottom at 160 bpm. He told the Mirror: 'It was scary but I'm alright now. I needed medication and I'm on that now, as it keeps it stable.'

George rose to fame with The Wanted, formed in 2009, alongside Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran, and the late Tom Parker. The group reunited in 2021 for Tom's brain tumour awareness concert after a seven-year hiatus. Tom passed away in March 2022 at age 33.
