Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to be returning to the UK alongside their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, next month. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to attend the one-year-to-go events for the Invictus Games in Birmingham between July 10 and July 17, 2026.
William's Alleged Reaction to the Sussexes' Return
Prince William, who according to reports at the weekend is struggling with his father King Charles's olive branch to the Sussexes, is said to believe the King is making a 'misjudgment' by trying to rebuild a relationship with Harry and offering him a royal residence for this UK trip. However, Buckingham Palace denies claims of a disagreement between William and Charles.
TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan addressed the Sussexes' UK return, calling it a 'slap in the face to the British people' after they stepped down as senior royals in 2020. He commented, 'They will be staying in a royal palace when they come to the UK in July.'
Royal Biographer's Assessment
Show guest and royal biographer Angela Levin addressed Prince William's reaction to the news of their impending arrival. When queried about what William would make of the King's generosity, Levin claimed William would not be entirely pleased. 'I think William will be horrified and furious,' she remarked. She added, 'He won't go anywhere near him, I believe, and he won't let Catherine go anywhere near him.'
Possible Accommodation for the Sussexes
Prince Harry and Meghan could potentially stay at Althorp House during their stay in the UK, the ancestral home of Harry's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, which is only an hour's drive from Birmingham. According to Hello! magazine, the residence has been offered to the couple, but they have not yet decided whether to stay there. It has not been confirmed if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will receive taxpayer-funded security during their stay.
