Brody & Chapman at Star-Studded Red Sea Film Festival

The glittering fifth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival opened in spectacular style on Thursday night, with Hollywood star Adrien Brody and his designer partner Georgina Chapman leading a host of international celebrities on the red carpet in Jeddah.

A Glamorous Couple Steals the Spotlight

Adrien Brody, the Oscar-winning actor, was accompanied by his glamorous partner Georgina Chapman, the Marchesa co-founder. The couple, who have reportedly been together since 2019, looked deeply enamoured as they posed for photographers. Chapman made a stunning impression in an intricate lace gown featuring a high neckline, delicate sequin details, and a flattering peplum waist that flowed into a fishtail skirt with a train. Brody opted for a classic yet sharp all-black ensemble, comprising a satin-collared blazer, tailored trousers, and patent shoes.

The event, held at the Cultural Square in Jeddah's historic Al-Balad district, was awash with stars from across the globe. They gathered to celebrate the festival's 2025 theme, 'For the Love of Cinema'. This year's programme continues to spotlight world cinema while placing a bold and significant emphasis on Arab filmmakers and regional talent.

World Premiere and Prestigious Honours

A major highlight of the opening gala was the world premiere of 'Giant', the high-energy biographical drama about British boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed. Directed by Rowan Athale, the film stars Amir El-Masry as 'Naz' and Pierce Brosnan as his renowned Irish trainer, Brendan Ingle. American icon Sylvester Stallone is among the executive producers. The movie first premiered at the 2025 BFI London Film Festival and is scheduled for UK release on 9 January 2026.

The evening also served to honour cinematic legends with the Red Sea Honoree Award. The esteemed recipients included:

  • Sir Michael Caine, honoured for his extraordinary seven-decade career, introduced by friend Vin Diesel.
  • Three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver, applauded for her powerful contribution to film.
  • French screen icon Juliette Binoche, recognised for her remarkable on and off-screen work.
  • Acclaimed French-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb and Hong Kong action maestro Stanley Tong.

A Festival of Global Significance

Since its inception in 2019, the Red Sea International Film Festival has rapidly established itself as a major player on the global cultural calendar. The 2025 jury, present at the opening, featured notable figures such as Nadine Labaki, Riz Ahmed, and head jurist Sean Baker, underscoring the event's international credibility.

The festival's opening in the coastal city of Jeddah successfully fused Hollywood glamour with a dedicated mission to champion Arab storytelling, setting the stage for days of cinematic celebration and discovery.
