Australian actress Claire Holt captivated onlookers as she graced the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday. The 37-year-old star, best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, joined a constellation of A-list celebrities including Heidi Klum, Jane Fonda, and Demi Moore for the 79th edition of the prestigious film event.
Elegant Ensemble
Claire exuded sophistication in a strapless evening gown featuring a fitted bodice and a dramatic slit skirt. Her blonde locks cascaded over her shoulders, while a diamond choker, matching bracelet, and sparkling earrings added a touch of extra glamour. The Brisbane-born actress opted for a soft peachy makeup look and completed her outfit with black strap sandals. She waved and smiled at the crowd as she entered the Grand Théâtre Lumière for the opening ceremony.
A Regular at Cannes
Claire has been a red-carpet regular at the 12-day film festival since 2022. In 2024, she turned heads in a sheer lace outfit that showcased her incredible figure. However, following that appearance, Cannes Film Festival organizers banned the 'nude dress' trend from the red carpet.
Meanwhile, 88-year-old Hollywood legend Jane Fonda stunned in a figure-hugging black Gucci gown for opening night. Demi Moore, 63, took a bow on stage as she was introduced as a jury member for Cannes' prestigious film competition, dazzling in a strapless glittering dress from Jacquemus. Former supermodel Heidi Klum, 52, also impressed in a strapless peach gown from Elie Saab.
Rise to Fame
Claire Holt rose to fame at just 18 as the star of the popular Channel Ten teen fantasy drama H2O: Just Add Water. She later moved to the US, appearing in the American TV movie Mean Girls 2 and the drama Pretty Little Liars. She gained a wider audience as one of the stars of The Vampire Diaries, which premiered on the CW Channel in 2009.
Personal Life
In 2019, Claire announced she had become a US citizen after marrying Andrew Joblon the year before. The couple welcomed their third child, a son named Fiord, in 2023. They also share son James, six, and daughter Elle, five. This is Claire's second marriage; she wed US producer Matt Kaplan in 2016, but they filed for divorce the following year.
