Names like singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter were frequently circulated as potential candidates for Rapunzel. It was also revealed that supermodel Gigi Hadid had previously auditioned for the lead role, highlighting the wide net cast by the studio.
The original 2010 animated feature, which was a critical and commercial hit, featured the voices of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, performances that have become iconic for a generation of viewers.
