Jacob Elordi Reveals 'Mutual Obsession' with Margot Robbie on Wuthering Heights Set
Elordi's 'obsession' with Margot Robbie on film set

In a candid new interview, actor Jacob Elordi has opened up about the intense and 'mutual obsession' he shared with his co-star Margot Robbie while filming the highly anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

A Close-Proximity 'Obsession'

The 28-year-old Brisbane-born star, who plays the brooding Heathcliff, confessed to US platform Fandango that he made a conscious effort to stay exceptionally close to the Barbie actress throughout production. 'I think the thing is, regardless of plot or screenplay, if you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you're going to make sure you're within 5 to 10 metres at all times,' Elordi gushed.

He elaborated on his fascination, noting he watched her every move, from how she drank tea to how she ate. 'When is it going to slip? When is the thing going to come undone? And, it never comes undone,' he added, praising her unwavering professionalism. The Saltburn star revealed this feeling was reciprocal, with the 35-year-old Robbie, who plays Catherine, sharing the same focused admiration.

Real Romance on the Moors

Elordi, who stars opposite Robbie in director Emerald Fennell's take on Emily Brontë's 1847 literary classic, shared a poignant behind-the-scenes moment that blurred the lines between fiction and reality. 'There'd be a moment where we'd be running hand-in-hand through the moors – maybe not even in the scene, just setting it up – where I'd look across at her and she'd be looking at me... and in that moment, we really were a part of their love, for real,' he recalled.

This insight into their on-set chemistry comes after Margot Robbie herself shed light on the filming process, particularly the challenge of returning to work just three months postpartum after welcoming her son in October 2024. She credited Fennell with helping to relieve her anxiety about the project.

More Romance Than Raunch

Addressing audience expectations following Fennell's previous work, Saltburn, Robbie told British Vogue that many are bracing for extremely sizzling scenes. 'Everyone's expecting this to be very, very raunchy. I think people will be surprised,' she stated.

Robbie clarified that while the film is 'definitely provocative' and contains sexual elements, its core is a grand, epic romance. 'It's more romantic than provocative. This is a big epic romance,' she affirmed, comparing it to classic love stories like The Notebook and The English Patient.

She admitted that some of the more tender moments filmed with Elordi left her feeling 'weak at the knees', highlighting the powerful physical response Fennell's direction elicits. 'That's a signature of Emerald's. Whether it's titillating or repulsion, her superpower is eliciting a physical response,' Robbie concluded.
