Tom Cruise transforms into a chaotic oil tycoon in the upcoming satirical comedy film Digger. Known for his death-defying stunts, the 63-year-old actor portrays billionaire Digger Rockwell in a retrospective trailer released on Tuesday afternoon.
Trailer Highlights and Character Reveal
The trailer features clips from across Cruise's filmography, including Top Gun, Mission: Impossible, and Jerry Maguire, before introducing yet another character to his roster: a southern cowboy-like billionaire. Around three minutes in, the trailer shows Cruise walking into a hall full of people shouting, wearing a dark red suit, cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat. He later appears pacing in a dark-lit room with wood paneling, speaking in a thick southern accent: "If all else fails you hit 'em with the truth. The hard truth. Just bang, bang, bang. Wooo."
Film Synopsis and Tagline
According to Variety, the film follows Digger after his oil company triggers an ecological disaster, forcing the billionaire to embark on a mission to save humanity from his own mess. The trailer ends with the tagline "A comedy of catastrophic proportions." One poster reads: "Tom Cruise is Digger. A man. A Plan. A Meltdown."
