Actor and musician Finn Wolfhard has shared his honest playlist, revealing a lapsed Guns N’ Roses superfan status and a love for David Bowie karaoke. The Stranger Things star, who also fronts the band The Aubreys, discussed his musical journey from childhood to present day.
Wolfhard recalled falling in love with music at age six after his mother introduced him to The Beatles’ film Help!. His first CD purchase was Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto, bought alongside Michael Jackson’s Thriller during a trip to Los Angeles.
The actor admitted he can no longer listen to Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, despite it sparking his initial rock obsession. He also revealed an inexplicable knowledge of every lyric to Lonely Island’s Incredibad, thanks to his older brother playing it in the car.
Wolfhard’s current favourite cover is ‘Another Girl, Another Planet’ by The Only Ones, which he performs with his band. He credits a music video appearance for Canadian punk band Pup as a life-changing experience that deepened his love for alternative music.
The playlist includes ‘Best of My Love’ by The Emotions as the ultimate party song, and ‘Belinda Says’ by Alvvays as a tearjerker. For his funeral, Wolfhard jokingly suggested ‘Half Gate’ by Grizzly Bear, an inside joke with his father.
Wolfhard embarks on The Objection! Tour this October, with dates in Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and London.
