Noel Gallagher's Oasis Lyrics Sell for £20,000 at Auction

Handwritten lyrics for Oasis's iconic track 'Don't Look Back in Anger' have sold for more than £20,000 at auction, far exceeding expectations. The notes, penned by Noel Gallagher in blue ink on unlined paper, fetched £20,160—five times the initial estimate of £2,000 to £4,000.

The lyrics, which show creasing and minor marks, were authenticated by expert Garry King. They break the song into numbered sections with no corrections, offering a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of the band's biggest hits. First released on the 1995 album '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?', the track was performed during Oasis's 2025 reunion tours.

Other notable items in the Propstore auction included Noel Gallagher's 1960 cherry red Gibson ES-355 guitar, damaged by Liam Gallagher during the band's 2009 breakup, which sold for £289,800. A custom Gibson Les Paul Standard from the reunion tour went for £44,100, and Liam's tambourine from a 2009 Heaton Park gig also featured.

Mark Hochman, Propstore's Music Specialist, said: 'The record-breaking sale of Noel Gallagher’s red Gibson guitar not only set a new benchmark for an Oasis instrument but also marked the highest total ever achieved for Oasis memorabilia worldwide.' The auction was part of a larger music memorabilia event, with over 500 items expected to raise around £3 million.
