Former Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs, known as Bonehead, has announced that his tonsil cancer is 'gone' and he is now 'into recovery'. The 57-year-old musician revealed in April that he had been diagnosed with the disease.
In a statement on Thursday, Arthurs said: 'I had a full scan 10 days ago and it's all clear, it's gone... Into recovery now and see you all soon.' He thanked fans for their messages and paid tribute to the team at Manchester's Christie cancer hospital, where he was treated.
Former bandmate Liam Gallagher tweeted that he was 'soooo happy' at the news. Other musicians, including Oasis's former bassist Andy Bell and Cast frontman John Power, also sent their congratulations.
Arthurs was a founding member of Oasis, playing rhythm guitar and keyboards on albums such as Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory? before leaving the band in 1999. He later collaborated with Liam Gallagher on projects including Beady Eye and solo tours.
