Pete Davidson Plans Exit from Acting, Focuses on Sock Brand Doublesoul

Comedian and actor Pete Davidson is planning a significant shift away from his television and film career, largely driven by the burgeoning success of sock brand Doublesoul, where he serves as an investor and creative director. Davidson, who joined the company in December 2024, has expressed a desire to step back from the entertainment industry, citing the mental and physical toll of constant public scrutiny.

From Saturday Night Live to Sock Entrepreneurship

The former Saturday Night Live star, now 32 years old, became a father in December 2025 when he and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed their daughter, Scottie Rose. Since then, Davidson has actively reduced his public profile, a move he detailed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. "I've done everything I possibly can on my end, which means not having social media, barely going out. I'm not at f***ing 1OAK, or whatever," Davidson stated. "I don't even know what a cool place is because I've never been to any of them."

Davidson's disillusionment with his acting career is palpable. "No one gives a f*** about movies or television or any of that s***. People just know I'm famous...they don't know that I do stand-up, or that I'm an actor," he remarked. He emphasized his exhaustion, noting, "It's exhausting to be in the public eye all the time, mentally draining, and it occupies a lot of time and travel." This sentiment underscores his decision to pivot towards business ventures like Doublesoul.

Doublesoul's Rapid Growth and Shark Tank Success

Davidson's involvement with Doublesoul began after he received a pair of their socks. "I get sent a lot of crap, and I usually give it to my cousins," he admitted. "I got sent Doublesoul a couple years ago, and I had to meet the team and I knew I wanted to be involved immediately." The brand, co-founded by Ben Rosenbaum, focuses on producing ultra-cushioned socks made from recycled materials, described on its website as "softer than butter."

In September 2025, Davidson and Rosenbaum appeared on the season 17 premiere of Shark Tank, pitching Doublesoul as "the perfect everyday sock." They sought $500,000 for a 4 percent equity stake and ultimately secured a deal with fashion investor Kendra Scott, who invested $500,000 for a 10 percent equity stake. This appearance has fueled the company's exponential growth, with over 1.5 million pairs of socks sold to date and projected sales of around $15 million this year, according to Vanity Fair.

Fatherhood and New Product Launch

Davidson's personal life has also influenced his business endeavors. On April 22, Doublesoul will launch Babysoul, a new line of socks designed for infants and newborns, coinciding with Davidson's experience as a new father. Reflecting on parenthood, Davidson shared with People in March about the "primal" instincts that emerged. "It's funny. It's like I didn't understand this. You're just ready to fight anyone. It's really funny," he said. "It's like, chill out. No one's doing anything to your kid... But you have this overly protective like...if one paparazzi guy pops out I'm going to f***ing beat the living s*** out of him. So that's a weird gear because I'm not a fighter guy."

He elaborated on this heightened awareness, explaining, "But you develop this like, 'Is that person looking at my baby? What are you looking at?' You're very, very hyper aware. But I guess that goes back to caveman times, you know? It's very...what do they say? It's like primal?" This focus on family and protection aligns with his move away from the demanding schedule of acting.

As Davidson steps back from Hollywood, his commitment to Doublesoul signals a new chapter, blending entrepreneurship with a desire for a more private life. The brand's success, coupled with his creative input, positions him for a sustainable future beyond the screen.
