Adam Peaty's Wedding Day Marred by Family Feud and Past Tragedies
Adam Peaty's wedding day overshadowed by family rift

Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty is set to marry television personality Holly Ramsay in a lavish Christmas Day ceremony at Bath Abbey. However, the joyous occasion has been severely overshadowed by a very public and painful family rift, with the athlete's mother reportedly barred from attending.

A Mother's Heartbreak and a Family Snubbed

Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty, is said to be utterly "heartbroken" after allegedly being banned from her son's wedding. This follows her earlier exclusion from Holly Ramsay's exclusive hen party, held at the members-only Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire. The family's discontent spilled onto social media when Adam's aunt, Louise, publicly chastised the couple. She wrote, "I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever."

Reports suggest the exclusion stems from Caroline's inability to attend a family trip to Bath due to cancelled trains, for which she allegedly did not apologise. Further claims indicate Adam has also prevented his mother from seeing her grandson, George. With many invited family members reportedly unable to afford the travel and accommodation, it is believed Adam's sister, Bethany, will be the only relative from his side present at the wedding.

Brotherly Conflict Turns Criminal

The family turmoil extends to Adam's siblings. His older brother, James Peaty, 34, was arrested on 11 November 2025 on suspicion of harassment after allegedly sending threatening messages to Adam during his stag weekend in Budapest. The Olympian was met by police upon his return to Manchester Airport. James has since been released on conditional bail as Staffordshire Police continue their enquiries.

The brothers had previously fallen out in 2021 after Adam addressed Jamie's "demons" in his autobiography. Though they reconciled, their relationship deteriorated again this year. Their father, Mark Peaty, has now spoken out, telling The Sun: "They're brothers, they've always been close... But it's got out of hand, there's been very little empathy towards Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties." A source claimed Adam believes his mother has enabled Jamie's behaviour.

A History of Personal Struggles and Loss

This current crisis follows a period of well-documented personal challenges for the swimmer. Adam described 2022 as the "toughest year of my life so far," candidly discussing his mental health "demons." He had previously opened up about hitting his "deepest low" after the 2018 Commonwealth Games, a period where he turned to drinking and partying, losing his motivation to perform.

His previous relationship with artist Eirianned Munro, the mother of his five-year-old son George, ended in August 2022. Eirianned has since said Adam's stint on Strictly Come Dancing marked "the beginning of the end," but she has spoken warmly of Holly, calling her "nothing but a positive presence" and a "gentle and kind" stepmother for George.

Tragically, the Peaty family also suffered a profound loss last year. In August 2024, Caroline shared a poignant tribute on the first anniversary of her grandson Joshua's passing, posting images of his tiny handprints and footprints. She wrote of the "enormous love" and "tremendous loss of what could have been."

As Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay say their vows, the celebration is indelibly marked by this complex tapestry of familial estrangement, legal drama, and past sorrow, casting a long shadow over what was meant to be a day of unbridled joy.
