Former Disney Star Matt Prokop Held Without Bail on Child Pornography Charge
Ex-Disney star Matt Prokop arrested on child porn charge

The mugshot of former Disney actor Matt Prokop has been made public following his arrest on Christmas Eve and a subsequent, shocking charge of possessing child pornography.

Arrest Details and New Charges

In the booking photo obtained by the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old, known for his role in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, is seen gazing at the camera. He sports a scruffy beard and a patterned sweater, holding a Victoria County booking board. Prokop is currently being held without bail at a jail in Victoria County, Texas.

His initial arrest on December 24 was for violating bond conditions from a previous 2024 case, as well as evading and resisting arrest. However, on December 31, a warrant was signed adding the severe charge of 'possession or promotion of child pornography' to his list of alleged offences.

Ex-Girlfriend Breaks Silence on Abuse

Prokop's former partner, to whom he was engaged as of January 2024, has spoken out about his arrest. In a statement to the Daily Mail last week, she said: 'After many years of abuse, the effects are still very real and continue to impact my life.'

She added that she is taking time to heal privately and emphasised that 'taking this time does not lessen the seriousness or harm of his actions.' The pair met on social media when she was young, but their romantic relationship began when she was an adult.

History of Alleged Violence and Previous Arrest

This is not Prokop's first encounter with the law in 2024. He was previously arrested in Texas in May 2024 after allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend during a weekend outing. According to the Victoria Police Department, the woman sustained injuries after Prokop allegedly pushed her and slammed her head into an object. He reportedly tried to run from officers during that arrest.

Prior to that, his most famous ex-girlfriend, former Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, obtained a permanent restraining order against him in 2014 after a six-year relationship. Hyland claimed Prokop was verbally and physically abusive for four years. In court documents, she recounted an incident where he allegedly choked her, leaving her unable to breathe and in fear for her life.

Hyland recently discussed the lasting impact of domestic violence in an interview with Variety in October 2024, stating she is still 'triggered' and that such experiences 'scar her soul.' She did not name Prokop directly during that interview.

The Daily Mail contacted Prokop's representatives for comment on the latest allegations but did not receive an immediate response.
