Adam Peaty's Wedding Drama: Family Feud, Name Change & Ramsay Swipes
Inside Adam Peaty's wedding fallout and family feud

The wedding of Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty to television chef Holly Ramsay, held at the historic Bath Abbey on 27 December, was meant to be a joyous celebration. Instead, it has become the centrepiece of a protracted and very public family rift, with fallout continuing to ripple through both families.

The Wedding Day and the Missing Guests

While the ceremony proceeded with Holly's famous family in attendance, a significant shadow was cast by the absence of most of the groom's relatives. Reports confirm that due to an ongoing feud, Adam Peaty's entire family was uninvited in November, with the sole exception of his sister, Bethany. The exclusions reportedly went even further, with his great aunt Janet and her husband receiving an automated message disinviting them just days before the event.

The distancing extended beyond family, as friend Michael Gunning was also allegedly uninvited after showing public support for the Peaty family online. On the day itself, Adam's aunt Louise sent a poignant text message expressing the "pain" caused to his mother, Caroline, ending with "Shame on you both." However, it is believed Adam never saw the message, having already blocked several family members.

Speeches, Swipes, and a Surprising Name Change

The tensions reportedly surfaced during the wedding speeches. Father of the bride, Gordon Ramsay, is said to have made pointed comments. He told his new son-in-law he was a "lucky man" and could look to Holly's mother, Tana, for what he had to "look forward to," reportedly adding to Holly: "Shame you don't have the same." He also emphasised that Tana would be an "amazing mum" to them both.

In his own speech, Adam Peaty did not mention his parents. Instead, he thanked his long-time swim coach, Mel Marshall, describing her as his "everything" and being "like a mum" to him. Further fuelling the narrative of a family break, Adam subsequently changed his name on social media to Adam Ramsay-Peaty. This move is thought to have upset his ex-partner, Eirianedd Munro, mother of his son George. A source claimed she viewed it as "hypocritical" that he would take a double-barrelled name but would not allow their son to do the same.

The Ongoing Fallout and Family Reactions

In the aftermath, a family source angrily told The Sun that Bethany's attendance at the wedding was a "betrayal" of their mother, suggesting she had "changed" to fit in with the Ramsays. The source claimed the estrangement was "the Ramsays' plan all along," stating: "They wanted Adam's family gone and they have succeeded."

Adam's mother, Caroline Peaty, has shared cryptic posts on Instagram, saying she felt she had "lost a piece of herself" and was "praying for peace" in 2026. In an interview with The Mail, she expressed profound hurt, stating: "I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out." The situation remains unresolved, casting a long shadow over what was intended to be a happy union.
