Elon Musk's Email Exchange with Jeffrey Epstein Revealed in Latest Document Release
Newly disclosed correspondence from the Epstein Files has revealed that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk emailed convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2012, inquiring about the timing of a party on his infamous private island. The messages, released by the US Department of Justice, show Musk asking Epstein directly about the "wildest party" on the island, raising fresh questions about their relationship.
Details of the 2012 Email Correspondence
In an email sent from Musk to Epstein in November 2012, the Tesla and SpaceX founder wrote: "What day/night will be the wildest party on =our [your] island?" This communication occurred several years after Epstein's 2008 conviction for child sex offences. Epstein's reply focused on logistical details, asking: "How many people will you be for the heli [helicopter] to island?" Musk's response indicated that only he and his then-wife, actress Talulah Riley, were planning to attend.
The email thread appears to show Musk responding to an earlier invitation from Epstein. While the exact nature of the proposed gathering remains unclear from the released correspondence, the language used suggests a social visit was being arranged.
Continued Communication into 2014
Further email exchanges reveal that Musk and Epstein continued their correspondence into early 2014. On Christmas Day 2013, Musk followed up with another query: "When should we head to your island on the 2nd?" However, by December 30, Musk indicated scheduling conflicts prevented the visit, writing: "Bad news. Unfortunately, my schedule will keep me in New York. I was really looking forward to finally spending some time together with just fun as=the agenda. so I am very disappointed. Hopefully we can schedule another time in the near future."
These communications contradict Musk's previous public statements about his relationship with Epstein. The tech billionaire has consistently maintained that he refused invitations to visit Epstein's island.
Additional Context from Released Messages
Other messages from the same document release provide further context about Epstein's social circle during this period. One unnamed individual messaged Epstein in 2012 about an engagement the financier had organised, mentioning: "At the party 27 street s ready with the girls. They are going to electric room soon. I m thinking of leaving soon to meet them there...Talked to elan, he was looking at me. But his wife was hanging on him. No girls, but [censored] is bringing 5."
Epstein's reply referenced Musk's planned attendance at a lunch: "Where are you? Is there anything cute for you or for me? Elon Musk is coming to lunch at house...so you will have time." These messages form part of the broader Epstein Files that continue to be released by authorities.
Musk's Previous Statements and Reactions
Elon Musk has previously addressed his inclusion in Epstein-related documents. In September 2025, responding to a social media post about his name appearing in earlier releases, Musk stated: "Shame on Sky News for this utterly misleading headline. Anyone pushing this false narrative deserves complete contempt. Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED, yet they name me even before Prince Andrew, who did visit."
The billionaire has also been involved in public disputes regarding the Epstein Files. Last year, Musk claimed on social media that former President Donald Trump was blocking their release because he appeared in them. This led to a temporary rift between the two high-profile figures, though they have since been seen together on apparently cordial terms.
It is important to note that appearing in these documents does not imply any wrongdoing. Many individuals named in previous Epstein Files releases have denied any improper conduct in relation to the convicted financier. The latest email correspondence nevertheless provides new details about the extent of communication between Musk and Epstein during the period following Epstein's conviction.
