Afton's move into reality television mirrors her mother's well-documented career path. While Gillian McKeith first found fame as a nutritionist, she became a household name through appearances on shows like I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and The X Factor: Battle of the Stars. Now, her daughter is stepping into the spotlight.
"Performing is my passion. I am an actress," Afton previously told the Daily Mail, expressing her ambitions which include a dream role in Netflix's Bridgerton. Her participation in The Summit marks a significant step into the world of televised challenges.
The Epic Challenge Awaits
The Summit will pit Afton against 13 other non-celebrity contestants in an extreme test of endurance. Their mission is to traverse a wild, 100-kilometre mountainous landscape in New Zealand, culminating in a climb to the summit of a distant mountain, standing at 8,500 feet.
The ultimate reward is a share of a cash prize pot that could reach £200,000. The format, already a success in Australia, will be hosted by popular presenter Ben Shephard. Originally slated for a 2025 debut, industry reports from TVZone indicate the UK launch has been pushed back to 2026 due to scheduling.
