Gillian McKeith's Daughter Afton Joins ITV's The Summit Reality Show
Afton McKeith Signs Up For ITV's The Summit Show

Afton McKeith, the 25-year-old daughter of controversial TV personality Gillian McKeith, is set to embark on a gruelling reality TV adventure. The Daily Mail can exclusively reveal that the singer and former Miss England finalist has signed up for ITV's forthcoming survival series, The Summit.

Following In Her Mother's Footsteps

Afton's move into reality television mirrors her mother's well-documented career path. While Gillian McKeith first found fame as a nutritionist, she became a household name through appearances on shows like I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and The X Factor: Battle of the Stars. Now, her daughter is stepping into the spotlight.

"Performing is my passion. I am an actress," Afton previously told the Daily Mail, expressing her ambitions which include a dream role in Netflix's Bridgerton. Her participation in The Summit marks a significant step into the world of televised challenges.

The Epic Challenge Awaits

The Summit will pit Afton against 13 other non-celebrity contestants in an extreme test of endurance. Their mission is to traverse a wild, 100-kilometre mountainous landscape in New Zealand, culminating in a climb to the summit of a distant mountain, standing at 8,500 feet.

The ultimate reward is a share of a cash prize pot that could reach £200,000. The format, already a success in Australia, will be hosted by popular presenter Ben Shephard. "This series really has got it all," Shephard said. "The contestants are going to be tested in every possible way... They'll need a serious amount of grit, determination and strategy."

Originally slated for a 2025 debut, industry reports from TVZone indicate the UK launch has been pushed back to 2026 due to scheduling.

A Nail-Biting Watch For Viewers

ITV executives are promising high-stakes drama. Paul Mortimer, ITV's Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions, teased: "It's going to be an absolute nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat watch for viewers at home. Filled with cliffhangers, shocks, twists and turns."

Afton enters the competition with some recent accolades under her belt. Last year, she was a finalist in the Miss England contest and was later announced as Miss Kensington & Chelsea for 2026.

The Summit will air on ITV1 and ITVX when it finally reaches British screens, offering audiences a dramatic blend of personal ambition and physical survival set against a breathtaking New Zealand backdrop.
